Cheap Chest Freezers - Stop Paying Full Price

Many families just plain run out of room when it comes to storing food. Even the largest of your typical kitchen freezer / refrigerator combinations can only hold so much. And if you have an automatic ice maker with a front door dispenser, there goes about 25% of your freezer space! It's time to start looking at cheap chest freezers.

A good freezer can easily last twenty years. Styles and technology haven't changed much in three decades. The only major difference in what we can buy today and what our mothers had is the price - they are pretty expensive... If you buy brand new!

In reality, do you need one that's brand new? It won't be on display, it will probably be hidden in your garage or basement. If you can get one for half price from what you just saw on sale in your Sunday paper, would you think about it? You should!

Chest freezers are one of the most common things that people sell. Either they are moving and don't want the expense of taking that huge thing with them, or maybe their last teenager just headed off to college and they won't need to be stockpiling food like they used to. These deals are well worth checking out.

With the current economic downturn, you can also find fabulous deals at outlet stores that belong to huge national retailers. These units (not just freezers but all sorts of household electronics and kitchen appliances) can be had for pennies on the dollar. If you don't mind a little dent here and there (and they're usually so small they aren't even obvious), you can get yourself a brand new chest freezer for a fraction of what it cost originally.

If you're in a hurry and there's nothing you like at your local outlet store, check out online message boards. You can usually sort by zip code to find what is on sale in your area. Unlike years ago when you had to drive over to see what you were buying, you can usually find photos in the ad and make a decision as to whether you want to make an offer.

Don't ignore garage sales, either. Many people having garage sales have tons of other stuff for sale that they can't drag onto their front lawn. Sometimes the people are smart enough to put up signs that say "we have other merchandise" or even "we have a freezer, washing machine, and bedroom set for sale too".

Of course, if you aren't driving a huge pickup truck, getting your new freezer home might be a problem. The deal you just got on the price might be offset by the need to rent a small trailer or van, and most of the time you need to pay for the entire day no matter what.

Look in your Sunday paper's classified section for something called "moving sales". These are similar to garage sales except the family typically wants to sell anything and everything they can before moving day. Call and ask if they have a chest freezer. By the time these things get to the newspaper, they are usually desperate to get rid of everything and prices are super negotiable!
